Oprah? Is that you?

So I’m on facebook the other day and I see an ad with oprah in it. Is it just me or does she look a bit possessed? Is it her make-up job? What is it about her in this picture that makes her so scary? I think its her expression. It’s as if someone was touching her under the table in a place people wouldn’t expect to be touched.

I guess the ad worked. It made me stop and look at it. Even take a screen shot of it. I guess the next time I am going to advertise something on the web I am gonna use this exact same picture regardless of what the product may be. While sex has proven time and time again to sell, Awkward pictures of Oprah sell just as well. If not better.

New Bike

OK so I have lost a pile of weight and still going, and this week I finally bought a new bike. I have ridden it twice and LOVE IT! here is a picture of her loveliness…

I also bought the “walky-dog leash.” This thing is awesome because my dog can’t be worn out. So a nice long bike ride really helps. Also she is a bit skiddish so this thing doesn’t allow her to mess around. I will take some video of her running on it soon. Plus she pulls me! I can get going pretty fast!

It’s nice because the leash is under my butt so she can’t pull me off course like if the leash was in my hand on the steering wheel. I love it! We need to go get her a harness tomorrow because she is pulling on her neck too much. This is gonna be the best summer EVER! See you on the trails!

I have lived right next to the greenway and never been on it for two years!

Wednesday Night Movie Club

I am now in a Wednesday night movie club. I can’t go when I’m doing comedy but I can do it every other Wednesday! I am so excited. Last week we went to the movie Invictus at the Riverview theatre.

First of all, I live about a mile from the movie theatre. I have lived where I live for almost two years and have NEVER been to that theatre. What a MISTAKE! This is the coolest movie theatre EVER. First of all the decor is so awesome. Very fifties, kind of mod/art deco? Secondly, they USE REAL BUTTER ON THEIR POPCORN! Do you all know how awesome real butter is? I think if you don’t mind regular theatre oily syrup then you have no clue. It might be my favorite thing about going to the movies. That is why I love the lagoon and the uptown. Good movies, plus real butter.

How nice is it outside?

Don’t answer that. I know how nice it is. 40 is the new 80. It’s warmer today than it has been in the last six months. I love the sun-shine too. I love it so much I went outside to sit in it. I also took my dog for a walk. I have had to put some sort of foot protection on my dog as she skids all over the sidewalk chasing her ball, but she wore out her predecessors old shoes. So I thought I would try a new strategy.

I put tiny kid socks on her feet along with some self-sticking fist aid tape. It didn’t last long. The first one fell off in about two minutes. After about five minutes she only had one left. She put a fast hole in it and dragged it around the puddles for about half hour.

This is what one of the socks looks like in the middle of the sidewalk.

She looks funny and her poor lil feet bled anyway. I guess we need to find some better dog shoes, but it sure was nice to be outside.

An 8.8 is absolutely unbelievable

The earthquake in Chili was an 8.8. This is the biggest earthquake I have ever heard of in my lifetime. If you think of the devastation in Haiti, this seems as if its going to be far worse. It’s scary to think of all the people who we loose due to natural disasters. I just recently watched a show about the tsunami that rocked southeast Asia and it was the saddest thing. I couldn’t believe all of the footage that was captured on home video. I watched as one family searched for their daughter and it was captured on video when they recognised her picture as one of the dead. I can’t believe how those images get stuck in my head.

I also watched the footage of the athlete who died on the luge track in this years winter olympics in Vancouver. I can’t get that image out of my head for the life of me. The worst part about it is the sound. The noise of him hitting a steel beam after going almost a hundred miles per hour, then to a dead stop in one split second. I really can’t get the noise out of my head, or the images out of my head as well.

I’m sure the image we see coming out of Chili will be much the same. I can try to prepare for it but my heart is just sad knowing what is to come.

On a lighter note, I got to babysit some of my favorite boys tonight and I snapped this pic on the webcam while he was snacking on some cottage cheese before bed.

Ooooooh, now he’s in a fish tank!!!!

I love skype! I have been calling people and video chatting with people. Skype me if you wanna, and I know you do at, maggiemcmagmag. I got to watch my dog run around at my dogsitters while I was in Mexico. But it was almost a little bit sad as she kept looking all over for me because skype is so realistic!

Go to skype.com. all you need is a webcam!!!! (hint: if you’re cool, they’re built in on macs!)

You would think skype was paying me to say all these nice things about them!

Graffiti in the snow…

I think graffiti in the snow is the wave of the future. It keeps the hooligans from ruining real property and they are still able to express their gang beliefs or whatever it is they feel they need to tag. I just worry that in the spring there might be a big cat-in-the-hat type problem on peoples lawns.
