An 8.8 is absolutely unbelievable

February 27, 2010

The earthquake in Chili was an 8.8.  This is the biggest earthquake I have ever heard of in my lifetime.  If you think of the devastation in Haiti, this seems as if its going to be far worse.  It’s scary to think of all the people who we loose due to natural disasters.  I just recently watched a show about the tsunami that rocked southeast Asia and it was the saddest thing.  I couldn’t believe all of the footage that was captured on home video.  I watched as one family searched for their daughter and it was captured on video when they recognised her picture as one of the dead.  I can’t believe how those images get stuck in my head.

I also watched the footage of the athlete who died on the luge track in this years winter olympics in Vancouver.  I can’t get that image out of my head for the life of me.  The worst part about it is the sound.  The noise of him hitting a steel beam after going almost a hundred miles per hour, then to a dead stop in one split second.  I really can’t get the noise out of my head, or the images out of my head as well.

I’m sure the image we see coming out of Chili will be much the same.  I can try to prepare for it but my heart is just sad knowing what is to come.

On a lighter note, I got to babysit some of my favorite boys tonight and I snapped this pic on the webcam while he was snacking on some cottage cheese before bed.

Ooooooh, now he’s in a fish tank!!!!

Silly Ethan!

Videos and Such

October 27, 2008

I have a lot of videos back up but there is still more to go.  I miss having all of the hits I used to have before I took all my videos down.  I think I had like 22,000 hits, and now its about 200. I guess someday they will build back up.  I just need to keep making videos.

I am going to do some comedy tonight at Acme if they let me.  I am also trying to get on that Diva Riot Cabaret.  Its a dyke cabaret thing here in Minneapolis.  I talked with the lady who runs it and it sounds promising.  Keep ya posted.

When Patricia Lark Fagen was running for senate I made a video that was in response to a commercial Al Franken ran and Norm Coleman ran.  I thought it was really good considering we had NO budget and no equipment except for a tiny camera and my computer.  You have to watch them in order though but here are the links…

Al Frankens Ad

Patricia Lark Fagens Ad (the one I made.)

Of course Franken wouldn’t allow it as a video response but so what.  It was fun to make.

OK So during the campaign of Priscilla Lord Faris for Minnesota senate I was asked to “take down”  all of my videos and websites, until the campaign was through.  Priscilla Lord Faris is my mother and ran for senate against Al Franken.  She lost. During the campaign I took my sites and videos down and now that it is over i wil be replacing all of my videos on youtube and putting all of my websites back up.  I will never have the number of hits I used to but I don’t mind.  I am just happy to have my voice back again.  So all of you loyal fans of extreme maggie, (all 3 or 4 of you) hang tight and you should have hours of video watching yet to come!

Also a close friend of mine has a new blog about the art of swan towels, please check it out!
